My often gets breathlessness during sleeping at night. She struggles to breathe. She has been diagnosed with gallstones and has been advised for removal of gallbladder. Breathlessness happens quote often and she seems not able to breathe or finds hard to take her breath.

You didn't mention the age of your wife. You didn't mention whether she has been seen by a General Physician also.
Please consult a General Physician in your area for the assessment of her Cardio-respiratory reserve .
First she should be controlled as far as breathing difficulties are concerned.
