Greetings Braces are generally used to correct the position of maligned tooth. They bring the tooth to its optimal position. At the end of treatment, when the forces given by the braces are removed , the tooth is free to go back to its original position like a elastic band. To prevent this , Retainers are given, which will hold the tooth in a given position so that it wont move again. There are types if retainers, you can discuss with your orthodontist and decide which suits you the best. Retainers are to be worn for a period of one year post orthodontic treatment and slowly wean off. Relapse is inevitable, if retainers are not worn.

Hi there. As your teeth's natural position was different from what you had after braces completion. They will try to go back to natural place. Hence yes, you need retainers to avoid that. Hope this helped

After wearing braces, your teeth may move back to their original position or a different position if you don't wear retainers. Teeth have a tendency to shift throughout your lifetime, so it's important to take steps to maintain their alignment after orthodontic treatment. When you wear braces, they apply pressure to your teeth, moving them into a new position over time. After your braces are removed, your teeth will start to shift back to their original position. This is called relapse, and it's a normal part of the process. To prevent relapse, orthodontists typically recommend wearing retainers after your braces are removed. Retainers help hold your teeth in their new position, giving your bone and gum tissue time to adjust to the changes. If you don't wear your retainers as prescribed, your teeth may shift out of position. This can happen gradually over time, so you may not notice it happening until it's too late. It's important to wear your retainers consistently as recommended by your orthodontist to maintain the results of your braces treatment. If you have lost or damaged your retainers, talk to your orthodontist about getting a replacement.

Hi yes if you don't wear retainers teeth tend to return back to their original position. In orthodontic treatment forces are used to align teeth and hold them in that position, once the braces are removed teeth need to be retained in the same position hence retainers are given. Retainers can either be removable or fixed depending on your case. Removable retainers are to be worn for 6 months to a year. Most cases relapse because of not wearing the retainers regularly.
Next Steps
Kindly visit your orthodontist finish your treatment and get retainers.

Yes, If your doctor has advised you for the retainers, than do go for retainers. Otherwise relapse(teeth coming to previous position) can happen.
