My gynecologist suggested me to do pap smear lbc.. i got scared when i learnt that pap smear is for cervical cancer. I checked the symptoms but i dont have any symptoms.. she said i had cervical erosion which caused some bleeding during sex and i have yeast infection . So how will i know if i have cervical cancer. I had bleeding during sex twice. Rest i dont have symptoms . Should i be worried about cervical cancer?

Hi
Thank you for your enquiry on practo
Since you had bleeding during sex, it should be evaluated and it should not happen normally
Bleeding during sex could be due to cervical cause which can be
1 cervical erosion
2 cervical polyp
3 other cervical causes
Pap smear ideally is done as screening test and not a definitive test for cervical cancer
Ideally you should be evaluated completely with
Pap smear and HPV test followed by colposccopy and biopsy to rule out any sinister cause
And you must go in for pap smear followed by other definitive tools to identify the cause of bleeding and get treated on time
