Betnesol injection at 36+ weeks?
I am 36 weeks and three days pregnant. My Dr. has advised me to take a Betnesol injection 6 amp. I am anxious as I have read that it is a steroid and has side effects and given before 35 weeks in case of pre term labour. But I am already 36+ weeks pregnant. Does taking this injection mean a c- section birth only or normal delivery of a baby is possible?  Is it necessary to take the injection if all things are fine in pregnancy? Please advise.

Betnesol injection doesn't mean that you will have a Caesarean. It only means that in case you start getting pains before the due date then the baby should not have any problem due to premature birth. Please get the injections as per your Doctor's advice.

This injection is known to reduce the neonatal icu stay of  the baby Though  not advised after 36 completed weeks because by then the lung maturity has already been achieved
