At 27 weeks, a very short cervix with funneling despite a cerclage requires close follow-up with your obstetrician/fetal medicine specialist. Please confirm whether the cervical length is 12 mm (1.2 cm), rather than 12 cm. The stitch being in situ is reassuring, but further management depends on your symptoms, ultrasound findings and examination. Continue progesterone exactly as prescribed; the duration and type should be decided by your treating obstetrician.
Next Steps
Routine strict bed rest is generally not recommended unless specifically advised by your doctor. You may usually use the washroom and take a shower/bath, but avoid strenuous activity and follow any individualized restrictions given by your treating team.
Health Tips
Seek urgent hospital assessment if you develop regular abdominal tightening/pain, pelvic pressure, vaginal bleeding, watery discharge or leaking fluid, fever, or reduced fetal movements. Because you are 27 weeks with a very short cervix, please remain under close obstetric supervision.
