Become a wreck
Hi, I've been a regular smoker for quite some time now. But since the last few months, I've been feeling sick all the time. I mean I'm not actually sick but the symptoms make me feel sick, like low on energy, negative thoughts, chest tightness, a racing heart, a nasal congestion and a tonnes of anxiety. I don't know if it's because of smoking or if something's wrong. It almost feels like something's wrong with my heart. I went to a pulmonologist  few weeks back and chest xray was clear. I'm a male (27).

Quitting smoking can be challenging, but with the right strategies and support, it is definitely achievable. Here are some steps and tips to help with smoking cessation: 1. **Set a Quit Date**: Choose a specific date to quit smoking and mark it on your calendar. This gives you time to prepare mentally and physically. 2. **Identify Triggers**: Recognize the situations, emotions, or activities that trigger your urge to smoke. Avoiding these triggers or finding alternative coping mechanisms can help. 3. **Seek Support**: Inform family and friends about your decision to quit so they can provide encouragement. Consider joining a support group or seeking counseling. 4. **Use Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT)**: Options include nicotine patches, gum, lozenges, inhalers, and nasal sprays. NRT can help reduce withdrawal symptoms and cravings. 5. **Prescription Medications**: Consult a healthcare provider about medications like bupropion (Zyban) or varenicline (Chantix) that can aid in quitting smoking. 6. **Stay Active**: Engage in physical activities to distract yourself from cravings and improve your mood. 7. **Practice Relaxation Techniques**: Techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, and yoga can help manage stress and reduce the urge to smoke. 8. **Keep Your Hands and Mouth Busy**: Chew gum, eat healthy snacks, or use a straw to mimic the hand-to-mouth action of smoking. 9. **Avoid Alcohol and Other Triggers**: Alcohol can weaken your resolve to quit. Avoid situations where you might be tempted to smoke. 10. **Reward Yourself**: Celebrate milestones in your journey to quit smoking. Use the money saved from not buying cigarettes to treat yourself. 11. **Stay Positive**: Understand that setbacks can happen. If you slip up, don't get discouraged. Analyze what led to the relapse and plan to avoid it in the future. 12. **Monitor Progress**: Keep track of your smoke-free days, the money saved, and the health benefits you are experiencing. This can motivate you to stay on track.

Seek neuropsychiatrist help for de-addiction and management of anxiety. Nicotine addiction is difficult to overcome and requires an extraordinary amount of strong will.
