Bad breath
Im facing bad breath issue. Whenever I tk meals within 1 hour plague started forming giving bad breath (sour taste can be felt in the mouth). Usually after meals I use to gargle and swish with plain water. Using Listerine is part of my oral hygiene(after brushing) but still I'm facing this issue. Can I use Listerine after meals to avoid this bad breath problem. Is it advisable to use Listerine for daily use. Can I prefer for Listerine mild taste. Is this therapeutic mouthwash. Instead of using Listerine mild taste, may I be suggested to prefer something else. Please guide me in this regard. Thanking in advance. Note : I have no issues of caries and gum problems.

Hello. I understand that Bad breath is a challenging issue. Listerine mouthwash has a blend of essential oils that make it taste alright. It is recommended for use for a full 20 seconds twice a day. Make sure you adhere to the time recommended. It is a good supportive regimen.
Next Steps
1. Brush your teeth after your meals. 2. Start flossing (google for videos) with a dental floss after toothbrushing in the morning. 3: Start tongue cleaning, especially the back of the tongue twice a day after toothbrushing. 4. Use Listerine after toothbrushing. This should help until you can have your oral hygiene status evaluated by a dentist.
Health Tips
Once your oral hygiene practice is in order, you can reduce Listerine mouthwash use to once a day. Smile.

Kindly improve by working on your oral hygiene....brush twice daily....warm rinses adding pinch of salt three times a day....kindly avoid Listerine mouthwash. A through rinse after having anything could be other preventive measure. Take tab zevit once daily after meal for 10 days. Full mouth scalling with polishing get it done once this phase of covid- 19 settles down.

Hi, You need to work on your oral hygiene more. You need to get your teeth cleaned and polished in the clinic whenever you can visit. As far as Listerene mouthwash is concerned please do not use it daily. It is a cosmetic mouthwash just to mask bad breath. It might also discolour your teeth if used for a long duration. You should start brushing more and with proper brushing technique. Brush twice daily. Once after breakfast and once before going to bed. Use a soft brush and any white toothpaste. Avoid using gels and ayurvedic toothpastes. For rinsing use Mouthwash Clohex ADS. It is medicated to improve the overall gum health and oral hygiene. Use undiluted twice daily. Dicontinue use after 2 weeks. For regular rinsing use warm saline ie Lukewarm water with a some salt.
Health Tips
Please ensure that you do not have acid reflux. Sometimes excessive acid reflux can cause sour taste in the mouth and bad breath. If that is the case take measures to improve your digestive system.

i would suggest you to visit a dentist near you and request gum cleaning..but since you have mentioned you dont have any gum problem or caries.. and you get sour taste in your mouth 1 hour after eating food you could be suffering from GERD, where you get acid reflux in yout mouth which might cause the bad taste. (you can consult your gastroenterologist for this). As far as using listerine everyday.. you should change your mouthwash as listerine will cause darkening of your pink mucosa in the mouth. I would advise using Chlorhex ADS mouthwash for 2 weeks followed by betadine gargles for 2 weeks.

Bad breath is mainlu due to calculus deposits on your teeth so the main line of treatment is oral prophylaxis (cleaning of teeth) which will remove the bad odour producing bacteria along with antibiotic course for three days
Next Steps
Since due to the corona pandemic it is advisable to not to vist to the dentist right now as it is an elective procedure
Health Tips
Use a chlorhexidine mouthwash twice daily for now but don't keep using it for a long time and brush twice daily on every surface of each tooth to prevent more calculus formation and as soon as things get normal you should visit the dentist for scaling procedure

Bad breath is mainly because of poor oral hygiene and since you have also mentioned that it mainly occurs 1 hr after eating so it's mainly associated with plaque accumulation . Get a cleaning or scaling done . Just using mouth wash after every meal won't help and excessive use of it may lead to staining or discoloration of your teeth .
Next Steps
Are you under medication because some type of drugs lead to dry mouth which inturn leads to bad breath .
Health Tips
visit a dentist and get a proper cleaning done . brush twice daily and don't forget to clean your tongue . Rinse after every meal with plain water .
