You should not jump to gum laser directly as it could be due to certain reasons. Firstly not maintaing oral hygiene which includes brushing , tongue cleaning and mouth gargles .secondly it could be due to improper scaling , thirdly could be due to disturbed lifestyle such as indigestion , acid reflux , etc
You can go with chlorhexidine mouthwash twice a day and avoid taking any food for atleast half an hour after you use mouthwash especially at night, take antacids for 15 days to check out the result
🔹 Why bad breath persists after scaling & polishing:
• Gum pockets (periodontitis) → bacteria still trapped inside.
• Tongue coating (common cause of halitosis).
• Post-nasal drip / tonsil stones.
• Gastric reflux or systemic causes (less common).
🔹 Next steps (not always laser right away):
1. Re-evaluation after scaling → sometimes gums take 1–2 weeks to heal.
2. Check tongue hygiene → tongue cleaner helps.
3. Assess gum health → if pockets remain, deep cleaning (root planing / curettage) may be needed.
4. Laser-assisted gum therapy → useful for deep pockets, inflammation, or recurrent infections
Bad breath can happen from 2 causes, either local factors or systemic factors. First will have to evaluate if the scaling was done properly, all the deposits from the gums are removed. And have to continue chlorhexidine mouthwash for a week. If it's not subsided after that, have to check if you have cavities, sinusitis, tonsillitis, acid reflux etc. Then will have to rule out the cause of bad breath.
Next Steps
consultation with the dentist for thorough check up
Health Tips
drink plenty of water, practice flossing after brushing, stop habits
There is low level laser therapy which is done followed by deep cleaning and scaling . You may consult a periodontist.laser therapy combined by these cleaning method would cost you anything more than 3000.
Bad breath also known as Halitosis is usually caused by 2 factors, intrinsic & extrinsic. Intrinsic are systemic diseases like Diabetes , Sinusitis, Gastrointestinal issues & few others. Intrinsic are intra oral eg Dental Caries , Periodontitis , calculus deposits, even deposits on your tongue.
Now, depending on how properly your complete scaling was done in the first place, it depends whether anything was left inside or not. There is No thing like gum laser for bad breath.
