Hi, Adult females often present with subtle or masked symptoms (high-functioning autism, inattentive ADHD, camouflaging behaviors), so assessment should include: • Detailed developmental history (including childhood traits) • DSM-5-TR based diagnostic evaluation • Standardized rating scales (e.g., ASRS, AQ, DIVA-5) • Screening for comorbidities (anxiety, depression, trauma, personality traits) • Functional impairment assessment (work, relationships, executive function) A comprehensive assessment typically requires 1–2 structured sessions rather than a single brief consultation.

Being well versed in DSM alone is not enough. Clinical acumen and psychological assessment would be needed to diagnose the above. In person consultation is needed for the above. Good luck

A psychiatrist experienced in adult ASD & ADHD (especially in women) should do the diagnosis. Assessment is clinical, based on DSM-5-TR, detailed developmental history, collateral info (childhood), and standardised tools (e.g., ADOS-2, AQ, DIVA for ADHD). Self-diagnosis isn’t sufficient—get a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to confirm diagnosis and plan treatment/support.
