As such a microbe becomes permanently resistant to that antibiotic. If antibiotic use is stopped, over time less resistant or responsive germs may surface again.
Persistence of resistance depends on specific bacteria and the environment.
Usually over time, enlarged prostate does need surgery.
The medicines used act differently, some improve urination, whereas some shrink the enlarged prostate. Choice depends on clinical condition.
Recurrent urinary tract infection could be due to chronic prostatitis if it's associated with dysuria, frequency, and lower abdomen discomfort.Consider getting urine culture and sensitivity test, consult a urologist as an appropriate antibiotic may be required for a long term .
Possible cause:
Recurrent UTIs with new bacteria + high WBC but normal blood culture may point to chronic prostatitis or urinary tract issues.

Next steps:
• Get urine culture & sensitivity
• Prostate evaluation by a urologist
• Imaging if needed

Hello,
I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician.
I understand your concern.
â¡ï¸ Recurrent urine infections with new bacteria each time and raised WBCs but normal blood culture may happen if the infection is localized to the urinary tract or prostate (not in blood).
General Advice:
Drink 2â3 liters of water daily to flush out bacteria.
Maintain good hygiene and empty the bladder completely.
Avoid excessive caffeine, alcohol, or holding urine for long.
What to monitor:
Burning while passing urine, fever, pelvic pain, or blood in urine.
Frequency and urgency of urination.
Any worsening despite treatment.
Medicines:
Chronic prostate infection (prostatitis) often needs a longer course of specific antibiotics (usually 4â6 weeks) which should be started only after a doctorâs prescription.
Pain or burning can be managed with mild anti-inflammatory tablets.
Probiotics and vitamin supplements may help in recovery and immunity.
When to consult doctor immediately:
High fever with chills.
Inability to pass urine.
Blood in urine or severe pelvic pain.
If your symptoms persist or worsen, I strongly recommend consulting a urologist for prostate evaluation and targeted treatment.

Hello, based on your history of recurrent urinary tract infections with a new bacteria each time and elevated white blood cell counts, it is possible that you may have chronic bacterial prostatitis, where the prostate can serve as a reservoir for bacteria and cause repeated infections.
Blood cultures being normal is reassuring, but evaluation is still important.
Management usually involves long-course antibiotics that penetrate the prostate. Symptomatic relief can be provided with NSAIDs or alpha-blockers if needed.
Next Steps
I recommend you consult a urologist for further evaluation, which may include imaging and specialized urine or prostatic secretion cultures, especially if infections continue to recur.
It could be a cause of resistance. Your medication needs to be changed and you must share a detailed history about what medicine you have consumed till now.
Also get test for culture/sensitivity.
• Stay well-hydrated
• Avoid alcohol & caffeine (can irritate bladder)
