There are two types of suction tips 1) plastic one which are disposable and disposed after single use 2) metal ones which are sterilised and used again But either of then is used again without dispose and sterilisation resp. May cause infection

Hi. There are two kinds of suction tips. One is disposable & one is metal one that can be reused after autoclave. If it's disposable, then it has to be changed in every patient. If it's metal one , dr. can reuse it after doing proper sterilization.

Very very good question. Definitely there is a chance of infection due suction pipe. Now a days most of the dentist using disposable suction tips. But do understand disposable things are not sterilized. Do sterilization of disposable items also if possible.And last thing plz check for  sterilization of suction pipe holding part which is hold by assistant during procedure.

The tips used are disposable. This in mandatory The suction pipe itself is run through with disinfectant between patients . Hence there is no backflow or cross infection
