Since you already took full rabies vaccination in Sept 2024, usually only 2 booster doses (day 0 and day 3) are needed after a fresh bite. Meanwhile wash the wound well with soap and running water for 10–15 minutes. Please consult me so I can guide you properly and confirm the vaccination needed.

Since you already completed a full post-exposure vaccination course with the Rabies Vaccine in September 2024, you still have immunological memory protection. In such cases, if another bite occurs later, you usually do not need the full course again. Instead, only 2 booster doses (Day 0 and Day 3) are recommended as per rabies post-exposure guidelines. In your situation, the risk is very low because: • The dog is a 4-month-old indoor pet. • It already received one rabies vaccination. • It has no contact with street or stray animals. If the bite is very minor (no bleeding or just superficial scratch) and the dog remains healthy for the next 10 days, vaccination may not be necessary. However, if there was bleeding or a deeper bite, it is safer to take 2 booster doses.
Next Steps
• Immediately wash the wound thoroughly with soap and running water for at least 15 minutes. • Apply an antiseptic like povidone-iodine. • Observe the dog for 10 days. If the dog stays healthy and active, rabies risk is extremely low. • If the wound had bleeding or puncture marks, take 2 booster doses of rabies vaccine (Day 0 and Day 3). • You do NOT need Rabies Immunoglobulin (RIG) because you were already vaccinated earlier.
Health Tips
• Always wash any animal bite immediately, even if it seems minor. • Ensure your pet completes the full rabies vaccination schedule with annual boosters. • Avoid provoking pets while playing, as sudden movements can trigger defensive bites. If you want, you can book an online consultation and share a photo of the bite wound, and I can guide you on whether booster vaccination is actually needed in your case.

Hello. Based on what you described, since you already completed a full rabies vaccination course in September 2024 and the bite was from your pet indoor dog, the risk is low. In such situations, usually two booster doses of rabies vaccine on day 0 and day 3 are recommended if a bite occurs again. Also keep the wound clean with soap and water. Since advice depends on the exact wound and exposure details, a detailed review would be helpful. You may book an online consultation for proper evaluation and personalized treatment guidance.
