You need to cut down on total carbohydrates especially cereals like white rice and its products like poha, maida based products such as biscuits, noodles, bread and sweet fruits especially banana and mango. Exercise 4-5 days/week which includes weight training is mandatory. Add protein in the form of eggs, meat, curd and paneer in 3 meals. Increase intake of vegetables except potato and sweet potato.
