MRI for my left knee shows I have partial ACL tear.. It's been about a year and my doctor has recommended physio (instead of surgery).. I do not see great recovery to knee and need help.. Also I want to understand if i need to ice it or heat it or do a combination (different doctors have suggested differently).. Any help will be highly beneficial.. Thanks in advance

Alternate hot and cold application for 10-15 min in every 4-5 hrs will help to reduce pain. also you can go for only hot application. Advance technique like dry needling will help in recovery. Avoid prolong standing and use knee cap for safty purpose. Dont ride two whealer or sit back for few day cause jurck on knee. Discuss to your physio if you r not satisfied of your exercise as i dont konw what exercise u r doing. Give him some time to give u proper result.

1.)You will be recover by exercise ...continuing the physiotherapy session .laser found beneficial in partial acl tear so ask your physio for laser therapy session as soon as possible. . 2.) If u feel some stiffness & pain  then go for hot formantation this will helps in realising pain n stiffness. Or if u have swelling & tenderness then go for icing this will help in that symptoms. Sports tapping is also effective in acl tear. Thanks Www.thephysiopoint.com

There is nothing like partial tear of ACL recovering to normal. If tear is present, surgery is must. Pls meet a Orthopaedic surgeon and go by his advice.

Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting- Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports Taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area Contrast Fomentation (Hot and Cold).

Your knee needs to be examined clinically, also it must be ascertained whether you experience any bucking of knee or any sort of instability. I would suggest you to Consult a Orthopaedic for further management.
