Acidity, gas, and burning sensation in the stomach for a week are classic symptoms of gastritis or acid reflux, often triggered by spicy or oily food, irregular eating times, stress, or overuse of pain medications. An antacid can give quick relief, while an H2-blocker or PPI taken before meals helps reduce acid production over a few days. Lifestyle changes are equally important for lasting relief.
Next Steps
Eat smaller, more frequent meals and avoid spicy, oily, and fried foods. Take an antacid like Gelusil or Digene after meals for symptom relief. Avoid lying down immediately after eating. If symptoms persist beyond 2 weeks or you develop vomiting, black stools, or weight loss, see a doctor promptly. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.

For immediate relief from acidity and stomach burning, take over-the-counter antacids (like Gelusil or Digene) to neutralize acid, or alginates (like Gaviscon) to create a protective barrier. For persistent bloating and gas, consider simethicone. Follow up with acid reducers like famotidine (Pepcid). You need a comprehensive guide to manage your symptoms regarding fast home remedies, providing temporary buffering and a cooling sensation for stomach acid, use of baking Soda, fennel (Saunf) or Ginger Tea, and bananas, over-the-counter (OTC) medications, antacids, H2 Blockers, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). Also you need advice on dietary Adjustments and  changing lifestyle Habits.

Based on your symptoms, you may be having gastritis or acid reflux (hyperacidity). It can also be related to dietary habits, stress, or an underlying H. pylori infection. As the symptoms have been present for 1 week, a short course of acid-suppressing medication may help.
Next Steps
Take a proton pump inhibitor (e.g., pantoprazole 40 mg) once daily, 30–60 minutes before breakfast, for 2 weeks. Eat small, frequent meals and avoid spicy, oily foods, tea/coffee, alcohol, and smoking. Avoid lying down for at least 2–3 hours after meals. If symptoms persist beyond 2 weeks, recur frequently, or are associated with severe pain, vomiting, black stools, weight loss, difficulty swallowing, or blood in vomit/stool, consult a physician/gastroenterologist for further evaluation (including possible H. pylori testing or upper GI endoscopy).
Health Tips
Please share if you have fever, vomiting, abdominal pain, black stools, weight loss, are pregnant, or are taking painkillers (NSAIDs), as these details may change the treatment approach.
