Dear friend, We understand your discomfort and pain you are going through.... First of all understand your body signals first, due to Lack of pain and no much discomfort we left the carious premolar for almost a decade in infection. Do you know our bone or body tries to create a wall by depositing more calcium whenever there is more pus or cyst in associated teeth to protect it from spreading to other areas. So if it took infection or damage to produce such impact in more than 5 to 8 years then we must respect our healing system and give time n supportive medicines if required. Sometimes it takes more than 3 to 4 months in case like this one as you remember extraction of wisdom tooth was within minutes but premolar must have taken more time may be half hour ( in some cases ) as tooth becomes brittle due to lack of blood supply and so it breaks n breaks and extraction becomes more of surgical and traumatic... so we all doctors tell our patients to visit early to dentist...
Next Steps
time is solution..  time is the key... don't loose hopes
Health Tips
any dentist who tried extraction must have told you the limitations and prognosis... it's OK. do not repeat same mistake and get replacement of premolar asap. good luck.

Hi, as you mentioned the premolar was quite decayed when it was removed, with a periapical abscess, it could be the reason why it took this long for the gums to completely cover up the area. The redness looks normal, and should go down soon(7-8days).
Next Steps
Lukewarm saline rinsing 3-4 times a day should help. Avoid eating anything hard that could injure that area.
Health Tips
Hold your faith strong. Your dentist has done a good job. But losing a premolar at 27 years definitely requires more attention from your end to your dental health.
