Now he is fully mature as 1.5 months have passed. No need to wake him every 2 hours. You can feed every 3 hours. It's called on demand feeding. If the baby is gaining weight and otherwise ok, no need to worry. No need to check temperature everyday now. You can bathe everyday now
Greetings
A premature baby feeding every 3 hours is generally appropriate, but gentle arousal methods like diaper changes should replace tapping the legs. The recorded temperature of 97.1°F indicates mild hypothermia, which is common in preemies but requires active warming through skin-to-skin contact.Persistent lethargy and low temperature can indicate serious conditions like neonatal sepsis, cold stress, or hypoglycemia, necessitating immediate medical evaluation.Daily temperature monitoring is essential for this baby because a sudden drop in body heat is often a primary indicator of newborn illness.Bathing should be limited to sponge baths once or twice a week in a warm room to avoid dangerous heat loss and metabolic strain.
Every 2 nd hourly feeds is usually advised but some newborn 1 hour variation is normal and the weight gain is appropriate no need to worry and temperature is normal
You can give bath
For a 32-week preterm baby, feeding every 2–3 hours is usually advised. If baby is otherwise feeding well, passing urine normally, active while awake and gaining weight, 3-hourly feeds can be acceptable. Avoid forcefully hitting the legs to wake the baby.
A temperature of 97.1°F can be slightly low depending on how it was checked. Keep the baby well covered, continue kangaroo mother care/skin-to-skin contact and maintain a warm room environment.
You do not need to check temperature daily if baby is otherwise well, but monitor if baby feels cold, feeds poorly, becomes very sleepy or unwell.
Bathing can usually be started once the baby is maintaining temperature well and weight is improving. Till then sponge cleaning is safer for many preterm babies.
Please continue regular follow-up with your pediatrician/neonatologist for weight and feeding assessment.
