A mass of gum is hanging over my upper right side wisdom tooth. I can't touch it with my finger but am able to do so using the tongue. The food gets stuck beneath that mass which I remove using my tongue. There is some pain since morning as a result of which I'm unable to smile fully.

Hi,
You probably have a condition called pericoronitis in which the wisdom tooth is not fully erupted and some mucosa covers it. There is food lodgement below this which needs to be cleaned. This can best be done by rinsing vigorously in that area with warm salt water a few times a day.In case it continues to be a problem the excess tissue can be removed by a procedure called operculectomy.
