I was having pain under and back side of the rib cage. Another doctor suggested lipoma excision and went To Dr. Girish sire for second opinion. He reviewed all my reports (incl MRI) and examined thoroughly and suggested that there is no excision/ surgery needed, it was relief to know. He did conclude that this mostly a spasm and physiotherapy would help. I highly recommend him.

My wife had been experiencing severe pain in her upper right abdomen since 10th of June, Initially we thought it was something like hyper acidity which used to subside with General medicines like Aciloc & Eno. But later this pain started intensifying and our family Physician advised USG. The Diagnosis was shocking as it said there are 8 – 10 Gallstones in her residual Gall Bladder (She had undergone Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy at the age of 13 in Bihar when the doctor had told the family that the Gallbladder had been successfully removed) .This led us to into a dilemma.

My mom had been complaining stomach ache just beneath her chest for almost past 4 years. The pain attacks used to be once or twice a year. We did visit a few doctors after each pain attack but no one suggested that it could be because of the gallstones. They used to treat her for gastroenteritis. In June 2020, she again had an unbearable pain and then she got admitted. Upon investigation, they found that she had 3 gallstones of about 7.5 mm each. They suggested her to get operated asap. Since my mom is 69 years old, I was looking for an experienced surgeon. My mom have had 3 stomach surgeries and 1 brain surgery in past. Although, she doesn’t have high BP or diabetes. ** ****** ****** * ***** **** **** *** ****** ***** ** *** **** ******* ********* ** *** ***** We visited him in the last week of July and explained the problem. He advised that the only treatment for gallstone is the removal of gallbladder. He explained us the complete procedure of the laparoscopic surgery and the risk involved because of the age factor. As he do his surgeries in Jehangir hospital, we were a bit reluctant at first as there were Covid 19 patients. But he assured us that Jehangir is the only hospital that has completely separate staff and ward. The very day we decided to go ahead with the surgery after 5 days. All the pre- operation tests results were done and they were normal and so was the surgery. There was no complication during or after surgery. Although because of the stones there was a lot of infection in and around the gall bladder. There was a separate tube inserted to remove the infection which was removed after 24 hours. She was discharged the next day. She was able to do her things on her own with minimal help. After 10 days we went for the follow up and for removal of the dressing. Dr. Bapat said that now she is back to normal and it was unbelievable to see my mom doing and eating everything like before. The best thing was the Doctor didn’t prescribed for any fancy or expensive medicine and no saline was injected. She was only on pain killers.
