My wife had been experiencing severe pain in her upper right abdomen since 10th of June, Initially we thought it was something like hyper acidity which used to subside with General medicines like Aciloc & Eno. But later this pain started intensifying and our family Physician advised USG. The Diagnosis was shocking as it said there are 8 – 10 Gallstones in her residual Gall Bladder (She had undergone Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy at the age of 13 in Bihar when the doctor had told the family that the Gallbladder had been successfully removed) .This led us to into a dilemma.
We found Dr. Girish Bapat through these reviews and met him first at CALOMS (Nal Stop Clinic) , where he advised a CT Scan where it was diagnosed that there are gallstones along with stones in the bile duct, which made the entire process more complicated.
Dr. Bapat then suggested a two-step procedure – An Endoscopy (ERCP) followed by Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy and gave us complete assurance. We found him to be very approachable , caring, available 24x7 and gave a lot of time and effort to address all of our doubts and fears and clearly listing out Do’s and Don’ts, unlike many who would leave question marks in the minds of the patients.
ERCP was performed at Deenanath Mangeshkar hospital on 17th June as set out by Dr. Bapat and providing a more than sufficient time for her to recover from this, Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy was performed on the 27th June at Jehangir Hospital. My Wife was able to walk on her own by the end of next day and discharged a day later. She is recovering fast and requires no help to carry on her routine activities, although with some post-surgery pain. This would not have been possible without the pre and post-operative care, Motivation and a great effort.
Neha & I would like to thank Dr. Bapat for the bottom of our heart for providing such a hospitable treatment and would strongly recommend him for Gallstones.

My mom had been complaining stomach ache just beneath her chest for almost past 4 years. The pain attacks used to be once or twice a year. We did visit a few doctors after each pain attack but no one suggested that it could be because of the gallstones. They used to treat her for gastroenteritis. In June 2020, she again had an unbearable pain and then she got admitted. Upon investigation, they found that she had 3 gallstones of about 7.5 mm each. They suggested her to get operated asap. Since my mom is 69 years old, I was looking for an experienced surgeon. My mom have had 3 stomach surgeries and 1 brain surgery in past. Although, she doesn’t have high BP or diabetes. ** ****** ****** * ***** **** **** *** ****** ***** ** *** **** ******* ********* ** *** ***** We visited him in the last week of July and explained the problem. He advised that the only treatment for gallstone is the removal of gallbladder. He explained us the complete procedure of the laparoscopic surgery and the risk involved because of the age factor. As he do his surgeries in Jehangir hospital, we were a bit reluctant at first as there were Covid 19 patients. But he assured us that Jehangir is the only hospital that has completely separate staff and ward. The very day we decided to go ahead with the surgery after 5 days. All the pre- operation tests results were done and they were normal and so was the surgery. There was no complication during or after surgery. Although because of the stones there was a lot of infection in and around the gall bladder. There was a separate tube inserted to remove the infection which was removed after 24 hours. She was discharged the next day. She was able to do her things on her own with minimal help. After 10 days we went for the follow up and for removal of the dressing. Dr. Bapat said that now she is back to normal and it was unbelievable to see my mom doing and eating everything like before. The best thing was the Doctor didn’t prescribed for any fancy or expensive medicine and no saline was injected. She was only on pain killers.
It’s been over a month now and she has no complaint at all. I totally recommend Dr. Girish Bapat as he is an expert in laparoscopy, is sincere and approachable.

Cholelithiasis (Gallstone)
I Vyasan Bhaskar, stationed at Pune. Here I would like to brief you about my last three months health conditions and the experiences that I had.
In the Mid of April 2020, One day I had severe stomach pain which lasted for more than 3 hours. This pain got repeated every 7 days for the next three weeks. During these days, I was consulting a doctor near to my residence and was taking pain killers and Anti-acid tablets thinking the problem was due to acidity.
Symptoms that I had was sudden and rapid intensifying pain in the upper right portion of abdomen, gas formation in the stomach, burping, burning sensation inside the stomach, and pain on the shoulder blades. Pain lasts for more than 5 hours.
As this continued, I decided to consult my family doctor (back in Kerala) through telephone. He suggested to do an Ultrasound scan and I was diagnosed with Gallstone. After that I consulted many doctors in Pune seeking remedies. Even I took homeopathy medicine thinking that the stone can be dissolved, which ended with no result.
Finally and fortunately, I landed up in God gifted hands-Dr. Girish Bapat(CALOMS). What differentiates him from other doctors is his approach towards the patients. He is highly approachable and reachable at any time. A well balanced professional. He guided properly and made me understand the necessity to remove the gallbladder stopping further infection. His guidance at right time helped me to avoid any further complexities. We need more doctors like Dr. Girish Bapat Sir who can guide us through the right medical assistance at right time. Entire process went very smooth starting from the initial appointment to the surgery.
Surgery was on 27th June 2020. Now recovering at home.
Many thanks to Dr.Girish Bapat. Hats off to you Sir.
