Hi, there is a difference between teeth cleaning and whitening Cleaning removes surface deposits and plaque but doesn't lighten your teeth. Whitening involves application of a gel on the tooth surfaces which lighten the colour of teeth

Hey dear, There are various reasons for the change in teeth colour to yellow. A dentist can address the right reason for the change after seeing you clinically. If it's yellow deposits, that is plaque, it can be easily removed by scaling (cleaning) of your teeth. Scaling of your teeth can lead to mild to moderate sensitivity in cases like root exposure and gum recession , however this is transient.   There are other treatment options like Bleaching and Veneers to turn your yellow teeth to white. Please consult a dentist and get the appropriate treatment. Take care!
