Hello,
I'm having chronic lower back pain and going through sessions from physiotherapist.
My question is can I do weight training with lighter weight while I'm getting these sessions?
Regards,
Anurag

Hi
Your treating physio must have told you the probable cause of your back pain and precautions to be taken.
If pain is there with activity of daily routine, then no point going for weight training for your back,..core strengthening with emphasis on stability and pain reduction is must before going to larger muscle training in strength and conditioning regimen.
Consult and follow

You should do core strengthening exercises with out hurting your back with proper guidance.
You should continue for 3 months then you can start weight training activities.
I would not to do weight lifting until you get recovered from your back pain episode. There are few postural changes and techniques for weight lifting that will reduce the chances of recurrence.
Next Steps
Follow you Physiotherapy treatment properly. Meet MDT certified physio for proper treatment.
Hi ,
Low back pain can be treated easily if the doctor could identify the reason of that otherwise it would become a symptomatic treatment and it will trigger all the time whenever you are action.
And about weight training that depends on which position you are attaining for your weight training and muscles involved. So you need a good supervision with a Biomechanical expert who can avoid you from any further injury.
Ask the expert and modify your lifestyle that can help you for the present situation and also can prevent for the future injuries.

While already on treatment for back ache , weight lifting is not advised. It will aggregate the situation. The back muscles had to be strong n pain free before they can bear weights . After pain goes off first start with back strengthening exercises n then with weight lifting.
If you are suffering with pain then you should not lift any weights that affects your llwer back muscles that may cause increase in pain and some times it leads to tear of ligaments.
Untill and unless the pain reduces completely you should avoid weights, do lower strengthening exercises that will be suggested by your physio.
Hi, for any workout u will need to sit or stand or lie on some gym equipment. Basically gym equipments aren't ergonomic because people don't spend half day over it. Even correct posture during workout will not be easy to maintain So, to summarise, stop all hand n leg workout until low back pain is bare minimum. Best is to go for walk 20-25 min of walk at medium speed.
If ur having pain and already on treatment means ur not suppose lift any weights it may increase ur pain and inflammation.
After reducing pain start doing back mobilization and strengthening exercises then u can go for mild weight training advised by physio.
