Will LPP ever go away???
Im diagnosed with lichen planus pigmentosus after a biopsy. It's been like two years I've got this. Started with hyper pigmentation in underarms face n neck. Now it's spreading all over my arms n face. My hands , neck n face has dark patches all over. 1. I started with tacrolimus and corticosteroid cream.. Used Sunscreen lotion and avoided exposure to sun for few months. 2. Then underwent UVB for 3 months after which I started becoming darker. 3. Took vitamin and antioxidant tablets for two months along with tacrolimus. 4. Now using only depigmentation creams like melasma n depiwhite on face and hydroquinone 5% soln on hands n also having xamic 500 tablet for the past 3 months. But I noticed new ones haven't stopped. Dark patches are increasing on my hands n face. 1. Is there any way to stop/control this disease? 2. Will the dark patches eventually fade atleast on a long term atleast ? 3. Will I ever get back my old original skin? 4. Is there any home remedies? i'm very depressed.

I empathize with your situation. LPP is a difficult condition to treat. Sometimes it is compounded with other comorbidities and it is essential to treat them. The obvious results are seen only if more than 70-80% pigment is cleared and till then it seems persisting. Partial results are discouraging. Standard textbooks have no solution to this entity. Have patience, visit a dermatologist you believe in, and wait and hang in. I see Indian patients flying abroad in hope of cure for LPP but then it is skin disease unique to our skin and most of the time they come back only with a sunscreen and honest answers.
