What is the treatment for a leg ulcer?
My mother has been diagnosed with an ulcer on her left lower leg. What is the treatment if elevation and bandaging are causing pain? Can surgical debridement have any risks? It is also painful for anything to touch the skin. Will a skin lesion biopsy have any risks?

Surgical debridement under a trained hand will help in the proper healing of the ulcer. The area will be sensitive and any underlying problems such as infection and sugar levels will have to be under control. Surgical debridement should be done regularly but also depends upon the size of the wound. Kindly visit a general surgeon if the problem persists or worsens.
