🧠 My Opinion (As a Psychiatrist): You’ve rightly identified that combining medication (like fluoxetine/Prodep) with behaviour therapy is the gold-standard approach for treating OCD. In OCD, higher doses of SSRIs than those used for depression are often required—but the exact dose must be individualized based on clinical evaluation, severity, tolerability, and other medical factors. self-medication or dose adjustment without supervision is strongly discouraged.
Next Steps
🪜 Next Step (What Should the Patient Do Next): ✅ Book an appointment with a psychiatrist to determine the right medication dose, titration schedule, and assess the need for add-on agents if required. ✅ Initiate CBT with Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)—it is highly effective for OCD. ✅ Maintain a symptom diary to monitor obsessive triggers, rituals, and response. ✅ In treatment-resistant cases, combination therapy or augmentation (e.g., low-dose antipsychotics) might be considered.
Health Tips
🛟 Helpful Tips / WORD OF CAUTION: ⚠️ Don’t alter doses on your own—doing so may increase anxiety, insomnia, or side effects. ⚠️ OCD recovery takes time—don’t judge progress weekly; think in terms of months. 🌱 Meditation, structured routine, journaling intrusive thoughts (without reacting to them), and reducing reassurance-seeking behaviors can support therapy. 💬 OCD is very treatable with the right combination of patience, meds, and therapy. --- 📍 Dr Shivam Bhandari Jain — Consultant Psychiatrist 🏥 Health 4 U Clinic, 249 Gufa Mandir Road, Near First Step School, Jain Nagar, Nayapura, Lalghati, Bhopal 🕕 Clinic Timings: Monday to Saturday, 6 PM – 8 PM 📞 Call: 887158270 📲 WhatsApp Consultation 📲 Instagram: @mentalhealth.4you ⭐ Google us: Search Dr Shivam Bhandari Jain on Google for location & reviews.

Hello Perfect dose for Prodep for OCD , varies patient to patient , also depending on prior response to it .Often we start it in lower doses , gradually increasing or adjusting the dose depending on patients response.
Next Steps
You can consult a psychiatrist for the dose adjustment as per your symptoms. And also there are many other alternative medicines available if no response to Prodep. Along with that you can continue with behavioural therapy, which helps in long term

Hello, in OCD, Prodep (Fluoxetine) is often started at a low dose and gradually increased based on response. The effective dose for OCD is generally higher but this varies individually and should be adjusted under medical supervision.
