For first few days afterbirth, child loses around 7 to 10% of birth weight . Thereafter, child starts gaining weight at the rate of 20 to 30 grams per day. The weight is to be measured monthly to get a clear picture particularly in the very first month when the increase in weight is inconsistent. Having said that , do ensure that baby is exclusively breast fed . Adequately breast fed baby normally wets 4 to 5 diapers a day and sleeps well.
Next Steps
Wait for few more days and feed the child on breast milk on demand. Keep a watch on urine output .
Health Tips
Do not stress as this might affect the quantity of breast milk .
