Hello doctor,
My baby girl is 3 months old ..her birth weight is 3.6kgs on 04/04/2026 and now her weight is 5kgs ... Her weight gain is like this..
at the time of discharge..on 10/04/2026 weight is 3.2kgs..on 06/05/2026 weight is 4.3kgs... on 07/06/2026 weight is 4.8kgs ..now her weight is 5kgs...
She is on exclusive breastfeeding upto two months... Now on average 4-5 times on breastfeeding remaining on formula milk due to low milk supply..she is accepting only 60 ml of formula for 2 hours...her urine output is more than 10 times..she is playful and at night she is sleeping for 5-6hours continuously...
1.How is her weight gain?
2.she is not feeding properly...how much milk she should consume per day?
Please suggest doctor... I am worried and stressed lot due to low milk supply and her feeding.

Greetings
Your daughter’s overall weight gain of 1.8 kg from her lowest discharge weight is normal and on track for a three-month-old.Her current intake of 60 ml every two hours, combined with breastfeeding, aligns well with the typical 150 ml per kilogram daily requirement. The 10+ wet diapers, playful daytime energy, and long stretches of night sleep are excellent signs that she is getting enough hydration and nutrition. It is completely normal for weight gain to slow down slightly during the third month compared to the rapid growth of the first few weeks
Hi
Her weight gain is good. Try not to take too much stress about the less breastmilk. It is a loop. The more you think that milk is less , the more it is going to affect you. If you try to do exclusive breast feeding , then you can achieve that. Keep yourself hydrated and have nutritious meals. You can start with decreasing the frequency of bottle feeding and increase breast feeding. You will see change yourself. Don’t focus too much on amount of milk intake. Feed as she demands.
The weight gain is reassuring overall. Birth weight was 3.6 kg, and at 3 months the baby is 5 kg. Although the gain in the last month is a little slower, good urine output (>6 wet diapers/day), alertness, and activity suggest that she is likely getting adequate milk.
At this age, babies generally need about approximately 750 mL milk per day for a 5 kg baby, including both breast milk and formula. Continue offering the breast first at every feed, followed by formula only if needed. Feed on demand (8–12 feeds/day) rather than forcing a fixed volume.
Since the recent weight gain has slowed, I recommend a visit to your pediatrician or a lactation consultant to assess feeding technique, latch, and recheck the baby’s weight in 1–2 weeks. If the baby has fewer wet diapers, becomes lethargic, refuses feeds, or is not gaining weight, seek medical review promptly.
