There is no need for any further vaccination in this situation. Touching a plastic object that a dog has licked is not a rabies exposure at all, because the virus in saliva dries up and becomes inactive very quickly outside the body, and it cannot pass through intact or even slightly broken skin from a dry surface. Moreover you have already taken a booster dose of anti rabies vaccine in May 2026, which keeps your immunity primed. Simply wash your hands and any doubtful area of skin with soap and running water for about 10 minutes and apply povidone iodine if there is a visible break. No immunoglobulin and no repeat vaccine course is needed. A booster (2 doses on day 0 and day 3) would only be required if a dog actually bites you, scratches you till it bleeds, or licks directly on broken skin or on the eyes, mouth or nose. Please do get any wound reviewed if it becomes red, painful, swollen or discharges pus. If the worry persists, you are welcome to consult me here (fee Rs 500) and I will go through it with you in detail.
