Therapeutic ultrasound (UST) is a treatment technique in physiotherapy for localized pain the reported adverse effect is not a typical presentation in this treatment usually however this type of symptom can be seen if there is any adjunct used along with the normal ultrasound gel.
Next Steps
keep the concerned physiotherapist informed regarding the issue

Dear patient. Your skin conditions should be checked properly before using UST it is not correct if there is a burning sensation and itchiness. Stop doing treatment.

You have to inform your physiotherapist about itching and burning sensation.  Did they use diclofenac gel with ultrasound gel?

You might have some sort of skin allergy, any ointment used with the gel during therapy, as it wont happen with ultrasound therapy. Inform your physio about the irritation.

Hi. Usually that does not happen . Any ointment was used alongside? Sometimes that cause skin irritation . Use cold compress to reduce the burning sensation. Should be better. You can take US again tomorrow and ask for only gel application without bolini or any such ointment.

Hi US therapy doesn’t cause itchiness or burning. May be some diclofenac mixed with it caused burning. or skin irritation. Next time use only gel and not any ointment mixed in it. Inform your concerned physio too.
