Urgent. Is it TMJ or 3molar or molar 1?
I have lower jaw pain, selling and ear pain for past 4 weeks. I went to Dr and got antibiotics for sinus, ear infection. Ear, jaw pain and swelling didn't reduce. Went to ENT and checked ear and sinus. No infection. Went to dentist on Friday and got the x-ray. I have throbbing and sore pain in upper jaw, lower jaw under the ear. But the dentist did bite test and said I might have crack in lower 1st molar and told me to extract or RCT. He was not sure though. Also I have upper wisdom tooth with some cavity. He also said it could be bcos of that.i also have snapping and clicking sound in the jaw while open mouth. I have same swelling for last 4 weeks with severe pain. Is it TMJ or upper wisdom tooth issue or lower tooth crack? How to identify lower tooth crack? Dr did only bite test. How to know if it's TMJ?I have throbbing pain in upper jaw in front of ear.I am in USA. We have to go to different specialist here. Don't know how to proceed further.i also taken cbct scan for lower 1st mol.

In my opinion it is due to crack in ur lower molar. This crack exend to your teeth pulpal area(means affecting teeth nerve) Thats why you feel pain in lower and upper jaw area and pain in front of ear on that side. This is because facial nerve branches passess through that direction. Crack tooth pain may feel pain or click sound in tmj.
Next Steps
If you have pain while chewing cotton role?? You have pain while taking hot or cold water? Probe may catch on tooth crown portion??if your answer is yes it shows crack extend to inner side of the tooth.crack extend to below crown portion then root canal treatment may failure. Tooth removal is better choice.
