I'm facing moderate- severe upper right back pain since last night and it started after i was done with my workout at the gym.. I think i pushed myself too hard but the pain now is such that i didn't get sleep last night. I would really appreciate if you can can suggest a muscle relaxant to relieve the muscle pain and should i apply hot or cold pack?

Your pain could be due to muscle spasm.
You should give hot water fomentation for 15-20 minutes twice a day.
You can use volini gel or spray provided you are not allergic.
Next Steps
If the pain persist after 3 days or aggrevates you should consult a physiotherapist or orthopaedist for complete assessment and treatment.
Apply diclofenac ointment to the area of pain and cover it with a cotton cloth.
After 10mins do hot water fermentation, repeat this twice a day for 2 days.
If you wont find any relief then visit physiotherapy clinic and take electrotherapy for 3 days.
Your problem due to muscle spasm, if it is any swelling use cold pack application for 10-15 mins, if there is no swelling use hot pack. Use any muscle relaxant gel or ointment for pain relief.
