Weight gain is a slow an steady process. Healthy muscle gain is what is required at your age.   A balanced diet will promote muscle  and over all development. In case of non-vegetarians, there are lots of option to select from. For pure vegetarians there are many combinations of foods that promote muscle growth. I do not favour protein supplements unless you are a sports person.    Pulses, Soya, cruciferous vegetables, dairy products and whole cereals promote muscle gain. Along side proper exercise and a healthy lifestyle aids in overall developmemt. Hi,at 5 feet 6inches you should weigh approximately about 65kgs. I will need to know your daily eating pattern to be able to help you.  But eat small, regular meals. Have energy rich foods like dried fruits, cheese etc. Add ghee to your rice or roti to gain energy. Have fruit milkshakes. Gradually increase protein consumption in the diet. Milk, curd, paneer, sprouts, dals, chicken, eggs, fish are good sources. Do exercises daily. Especially strength training. To increase height do activities like swimming and cycling and yoga asanas.
