Hello! Thanks for reaching out on Practo!
The breathing related issues can sometimes be brought on by anxiety specially at night when the person is trying to sleep. It would be helpful to know if you also have sweating or palpitations along with feeling dizzy.
Next Steps
If yes, you can visit a Psychiatrist nearby who are experts in treating sleep related problems stemming out of anxiety, depression or are purely related to sleep issues.

Pounding chest and waking up suddenly, both are symptoms of disturbed sleep as well as disturbed thoughts.
