Please visit your dentist in order to come to a conclusion as to what must have happened. If there is a fracture of the tooth or if the enamel has chipped off get the treatment done accordingly.  If there is a vertical fracture of the tooth you ll have to get it removed.  Sometimes it can also be a temporary phase... The pain might be due to sudden trauma. In such cases you just have to give the tooth some rest and not chew on that side for about a week. But to come to a diagnosis a clinical examination is necessary.
