The pain is probably due to cold and sinusitis. Take steam, hot drinks and any decongestant tablet. If it does not resolve within a few days consult a doctor

Scaling may be unrelated to your current pain. Sore throat and infections can cause pain in nearby areas too. If pain is in upper jaw may be you have sinusitis. If pain is in lower jaw it may be referred pain from throat.
Next Steps
Paracetamol that you take if it gives you relief you can take it and continue steaming. PCM better not to take more than 6 tablets (500 mg x 6) in a day. If you need so much pain killers it is time to visit a doctor or take a consultation to know clearly further so better advice may be given.
