I've had some swelling in one of my tooth and it's hurting... Any idea what could this be? I haven't brushed my teeth because I'm scared I'll worsen it.
I've attached the picture.

Hi this might have occurred because of toothbrush injury or any food lodgement in that area.
Use a floss to remove any wedged food particle.
Apply dologel or hexigel using a cotton bud in that area and leave it for 5 to 10mins.
Use warm saline rinses or a mouthwash.
You can brush gently.
Next Steps
Wait for inflammation to subside and then consult if required.
Swelling never occurs in a tooth as it is a mineralised structure , swelling always occurs in soft tissues and therefore the pain that you are experiencing is because of swelling in the gums surrounding the mentioned tooth .
Reason of this swelling is the irritation to the gums because of trauma to that part of the gum or any food particle is stuck there .
Next Steps
Visit a dentist as soon as possible and get a correct diagnosis done.
Hi
That might be because of any trauma or food that might have got stucked in that particular area, use dental floss to clean that area, followed by warm salt water garle that will help you.
Nothing to worry about.
Looks like gum infection/Localized Gingivitis.
Maintain oral hygiene.
Do warm saline rinses thrice a day.
Visit a local dentist for treatment and physical evaluation
