Hello, my father needs to get his tooth extracted. However, his neurologist has advised him against stopping blood thinner . Is it possible to safely extract his tooth without stopping blood thinning medicine. He is in real pain due to cavity.

Get his INR checked . If it’s in the normal range then there is no need to stop the medication. Please never stop blood thinner for minor oral procedures . Local heamostatic measures will be sufficient to control bleeding after extraction of the INR is normal

Blood thinning  medicines have to be stopped before extraction... It is mandatory.... otherwise after extraction patient may face more blood loss...
