Tooth decay during pregnancy
Hi, I am Supriya, 34 years old. I am 23 weeks pregnant. Recently one of my tooth which was partly broken chipped off a bit more and it has started to pain a lot. Not able to have food from that side due to pain. Can root canal be done at 23 weeks pregnancy? Is it safe to treat tooth decay?

Yes go ahead with treatment. Don’t go to charitable type of dental clinics,go to proper dental clinic because sterilisation of instruments is important in pregnancy.

Hello ma'am, you can easily do RCT of plain colored teeth, if there is no problem in your pregnancy, please get a root canal done by a dentist near you.                                   Thank you

Root canal treatment at 23 week of pregnancy is very much possible. Infact delaying it can lead to pain and swelling which can be more problematic in pregnancy. I am a root canal specialist and i have successfully performed RCTs at pregnant females without any complications.

First of all congratulations! Second trimester is the relaxation period of pregnancy they say and there is a benifit that you can also get any dental treatment done in this trimester without any fear. I have had many patients in their second trimester who have had undergone various successful dental procedures. So you need not worry. You have said that the tooth has chipped off and now causing you pain. We have to first assess the damage and for that you need an actual clinical examination of the tooth. The dentist will assess the tooth and suggest you the proper course of treatment depending on the extent of damage. Rct can be safely done but let us see if it is actually needed first. You can be sure only after a proper dental examination in a clinic.
Next Steps
Get a go-ahead from your gynecologist first. Visit a dental clinic for consultation regarding further course of treatment
Health Tips
Get the consultation as soon as possible because the longer you wait, the issue will worsen.
