Firstly, you need to visit a dentist and get a OPG done. This is a X-Ray consisting of all your teeth to get a clear picture about your third molars. Usually an impacted third molar gives out signs of referred pain to your ear. Also you could have TMJ related issues as you have mentioned that it happened after chewing on something hard.
Next Steps
Kindly visit a nearby dentist. Please do not go in for a self diagnosis
Health Tips
Mostly you will be needing an OPG.

The ear pain is due to force of bitting on the hard food, and it will resolve on its own, if severe you can take Zerodol - pain killer. ( If you don't have any health issues). If the food had not damaged the tooth, then it will resolve on its own, avoid bitting or chewing over that area for 2 days. If the tooth is cracked, or fractured, then you need to restore it
Next Steps
Please visit the Dentist, because only he can visualise the crack. Crack should be treated immediately, as it leads to other problems.
Health Tips
Give ice pack over the cheeks and area around the ear. Hope this helps you mam.
