Tongue out when focusing

Hello, my kid is 3 yrs old. He has a habit of keeping his tongue out almost 80% of his time and mostly when he is concentrating on something or playing . He has this habit since he was a yr old and is not going away. We continously remind him to keep tongue inside but it's not improving at all. please advise what to do

Hi..it is usually seen in mouth breathers. He must be having either nasal septum defect or enlarged adenoids. Visit a ENT specialist. Regards

Whenever we make an attempt to correct a habit in a child, the first aim is to identify the underlying cause of the habit,,, because if that is not understood or corrected, treatment will not be successful or will show relapse in future....
Simple habit breaking appliances can be designed by a dentist and can treat this problem successfully......  but please go for an ENT examination to rule out any problem with the tonsils..... also try to observe the breathing pattern of your child.....

A pedodontist would be the best person to take care of this problem..... Regards.....

Hi..Please try to make out whether your son is sticking out his tongue as he is an occasional mouth breather or is it part of his mannerism  by watching him ...tongue thrusting will lead to anterior teeth proclination or mal occlusion..also keep in mind children 3 to 10 yrs of age group tend to mimic elders, other children and cartoon / tv characters in their day to day life.. If this is becoming more of concern pls do consult a pedodontist nearby

Get him examined by a ENT surgeon. Possible mouth breathing due to enlarged tonsils or adenoid.
