Hello,
The decision to discontinue treatment is based on the probability
of recurrence, the frequency and severity of past episodes and
presence of comorbid disorders. Abrupt stopping of antidepressant can cause withdrawal symptoms. So do not stop medication without supervision.

HI sir
Thanks for seeking help here.
To clear your doubts .....As you have taken 8 to 9 years medication definitely you have multiple consultations. And mostly you are having recurrent episodes. So now coming recurrent depression episode.... We need long term treatment....and medicine will tapered to lowest maintenance dose after 2 years of remission. Means when you will feel completely free from all symptoms with normal biology and social functions...then we can consider to take 20 percentage of medicine every 6 monthly...to see the lowest possible dose in which you can maintain well.
Detailed history of your ailment along with what meds u were taking and hows your present condition is will decide whether u can stop the pills or not. C9nsult your treating psychiatrist for better guidance.
