TMJ arthralgia
I have Left side TMJ arthralgia since 5 weeks. I am on painkillers, hot fomentation and volini gel. Symptoms have improved but not completely. OPG shows impacted wisdom tooth on both sides. Can wisdom tooth be the reason for it? I consulted orthodontist also who said teeth alignment is fine. No direct or indirect trauma to the joint. I am worried. I am attaching my OPG for opinion regarding wisdom tooth. please advise

Hello. Looking at your chief compliant and the OPG provided, it seems that you are having Internal Derangement of left TMJ. The OPG shows mild changes over the left TMJ compared to the right. While TMD (Temporomandibular Disorders) can occur due to improper biting owing to pain or discomfort related to wisdom teeth, there many other causes of the same. Those causes can be ruled out after thorough clinical examination and history taking. Therefore it is advisable to consult your nearest Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon for the same. Plus, your Oral Surgeon will most likely give a set exercises which are to be performed daily.
Next Steps
Visit Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon asap.
Health Tips
Avoid opening your mouth widely and have soft diet.

Wisdom tooth does effect the movement of the jaw and might also cause pain. You might even face difficulty in opening the mouth in the morning when you wake up. Removal of wisdom tooth by a surgeon would be recommended.
Next Steps
open and close your mouth 5-10 times for min of 5 times a day for better movement and relaxation of the joint( basic exercise)
Health Tips
Also check for cavity in your right molar ( proximal side) ( second one i.e. the one in front of the wisdom tooth) . Clinical examination would definitely be better.

Yes, Impacted wisdom tooth could be most likely to be the cause of concern that need extraction of wisdom teeth left side ( upper and lower) .   Anyways if there is any other pathology can only go to next level findings once you get rid of these wisdom teeth.... all the best to you👍
