TMJ and wisdom tooth
I have lower impacted wisdom tooth. Can it be cause of TMJ arthralgia? I have no pain at the site of wisdom tooth. Please advise.

Hi. While TMJ arthralgia can occur due to wisdom tooth (referred pain), there can be other cause of the pain too. Therefore it is advisable to consult your nearest Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon for a thorough history taking and clinical examination. You might also need to get an OPG done to access the TMJs.

Meanwhile, do have soft diet and avoid opening your mouth widely. Do keep a notice of other symptoms like clicking over TMJ area or feeling of restricted mouth opening.

Hello. Need clinical examination. TMJ issues. Wisdom tooth could be one of the reason. But not always. After complete clinical examination.and diagnostic procedure. Can be ruled out. Visit. Oral Maxillofacial surgeon.

Yes it can be due to impacted wisdom tooth in lower jaw. Get an OPG done for the assessment of the site. Get wisdom tooth extracted.

Yes sometimes lower impacted tooth will cause radiating pain to tmj, but there are many other causes for tmj arthralgia for which you need to visit a oral and maxillofacial surgeon for thorough examination.
