Tinnitus or rumination
Hey I have anxiety and seeking help currently. I want to ask I hear music in my ears almost 24/7 on repeat mode especially when I hear a song that I know the lyrics . I used to hear songs whenever I was sad on repeat mode with my earphones plugged in. Now I have stopped using earphones. I know that I hear them and they cause me difficult to sleep. Right now I hear only songs no other voice . Is it tinnitus or rumination? And how to cure it ?

Once you can consult an ENT SPECIALIST to rule out organic causes Secondly, you can plan a consultation with a Psychiatrist with your reports by an ENT doctor for detailed evaluation and assessment After assessment, it can be commented whether it's an OC symptom, rumination etc Do not worry, you will be alright once a proper consultation done

Please consult an ENT specialist to rule out the cause. If it is tinnitus, there is separate management. But as you have mentioned about sadness and anxiety, and if this is occurring due to stress and anxiety, then psychological intervention is required. Talk to the ENT specialist with all the history.

If you’re hearing an actual ringing or humming sound in your ear (as if the sound is coming from outside or inside your ear physically), then it could be tinnitus. In that case, I’d suggest consulting an ENT specialist to rule out any ear-related cause. But if the song is replaying in your mind, like a tune that keeps looping or a mental replay — that’s more of a psychological or cognitive process. It can happen when our mind associates that song with certain emotions, like sadness or comfort, and starts replaying it automatically. If it’s the second case, we can definitely work on it through mindfulness, grounding, and mood regulation techniques to help your mind break that pattern and feel calmer. Contact me for a session.
