of what i deduce , i think you have been told that you require a root canal therapy, so your doctor might have given you medication(antibiotics) for the same. So once you start them you will be called for a appointment . some doctors after evaluating will go for either single sitting or ideally in such situations atleast 2 visits. Then after placing permanent filling one can go for crown cutting and measurement on the same day. and in next appointment final placement of crown. So a maximum sitting of 4 and a minimum sitting of 3 appointments. if everything goes smoothly. if there are hiccups in the middle of the procedure one might have to give few days in the middle of the procedure .
