I have few overlapped crooked teeth and looking for alignment treatment. I am little sceptical for braces or tooth removal for the same. How should I proceed for the same? Would it be safe to visit a dentist during pandemic?

Hello,
There are many types of ortho treatments available today- for eg- 1) invisible aligners - in which you wear translucent removable plates over your teeth that are changed with time (nothing bonded over your teeth) , 2) ceramic braces - that are not that visible on your teeth as compared to the conventional metallic braces.
Rest yes sometimes it gets a little tiring to wear such things in mouth for a period of almost a year or so but a good orthodontist can really help in making the procedure easy.

yes it's safe in dental clinic. just follow basic protocol. dental clinic are safe places. we as dentist takes lot of efforts to maintain our clinic absolutely hygienic even before COVID time.
Whenever there is crodig or kverlappinh of teeth that indicates lack of space for all the teeth present on upper or lower arch.
So, therapeutic extraction is one of the initial step to create space when there is significant discrepemcy between sum of all teeth width and jaw length.
For any particular case only by assessing thoeoughly clinically and radigrapgically that can be determined.
Visit a clinic where strict sterilization protocols are being followed and you should be fine.
About the malalignment of teeth, not all braces treatment for overlapping teeth require tooth to be pulled out. An orthodontist will be able to evaluate your case and tell you if they will need to extract any teeth in your case or not.
Overlapping teeth must be treated as they can lead to tooth decay, loose gums and many other dental problems with time.
