Swelling in finger
My Father's 4th finger in the left hand has swelling for past 10 days. Finger cannot be opened completely and it pains. X - Ray is normal. Feels like some pus inside but not sure. Diabetes is controlled with HBA1C as 5.9. ESR is high 33. C Reactive Protein is 29.6. He consulted orthopaedic and is on Augmentin 1 from the past 4 days but no relief. Hemoglobin is 12.4 and RBC is 4.34. Please suggest if we need to consult internal medicine doctor or someone else. No fever. I have given him Zerodol SP today.

Finger swelling with painful movements without any history of injury ,may be due to bacterial infection of tendons and it's sheaths. As he is already on antibiotics and you feel his pain is not relieved,he should be re-examined by the orthopedist .

You have written such an elaborate description. Why don't you go to a General Surgeon in your area and get a diagnosis and proper treatment? Even if some Doctor on Tele-consultation is able to give a perfect diagnosis (unlikely) , you will still have to go to a General Surgeon or Orthopaedic surgeon or a Rheumatologist in your area. Why waste time ?

Yes, a detailed history and a consult is definitely necessary in this case. Sounds like an abscess collection. Involvement of Prediabetes will also have to be investigated. Will also need to see the X-Ray and other reports.
Next Steps
Book a consult as soon as possible.
Health Tips
Keep the area clean. Would require pictures for an effective medical advice.
