Suspect if it is schizophrenia
My mother has been experiencing some symptoms like feeling like someone is controlling her and talking to her in her head, hearing voices, staring into the void for sometime, lost interest in socializing, and sometimes nodding  to the conversations she has in her mind along with some gestures...I noticed all this a few months before and my aunt has schizophrenia so I suspect this is inherited. I quite suspect it's the same with my mother that I guess it  triggered bcuz of the surgery she had 2 years ago and now she needs support walking that she quite stopped going out and need a second surgery...so I would be glad if someone could give me some clarity and how to deal with this matter...

Get her evaluated with a psychiatrist.. Though the possibility of schizophrenia needs to be considered , other possible symptoms & signs also need to be considered.. Presentation of these symptoms for the first time at this age, requires a thorough assessment .
