It is not likely that her symptoms will get better without medication. It is essential that you take her to a Psychiatrist and start the treatment at the earliest. Delay in treatment can worsen the prognosis. Also ensure she takes the medication as supervised and do not change/alter/modify or stop medication on your own. Premature termination of treatment can lead to relapse or worsening of symptoms and will be ever more difficult to treat. It is a mental illness which is treatable with medication.
Hi, Schizophrenia involves delusions and or hallucinations and an altered way of looking at self and life. The person losses internal integrity. The sense of difference between internal and external reality becomes vague. Medicines are the only option till the patient gets back his/ her boundaries and integrity. Once the person gains integrity therapy and counselling can be started. But therapy and counselling are not an alternative to medicines, it's an add on so that patient lives a better life.
Next Steps
Kindly start medicines before her symptoms increase. When she responds well or becomes near normal add therapy/ counselling to her medicines.
Health Tips
