Static shocks
It’s been a week. I am getting static shocks nonstop. Anything I touch gives me a static shock (even walls, couch, wood, etc). Which specialist should I consult, if at all there is a need to consult.

Based on the description of the persistent static shocks you've been experiencing, it would be advisable to consult a medical specialist. The frequent static electricity discharges you are encountering, even from seemingly innocuous surfaces, could be indicative of an underlying condition that requires evaluation. Potential Specialist Recommendations: 1. Dermatologist: - Static electricity buildup and discharge can sometimes be related to skin or sweat gland issues that affect the body's electrical conductivity. - A dermatologist can examine your skin, assess your overall health status, and determine if there are any dermatological factors contributing to the static shocks. 2. Neurologist: - In some cases, persistent static electricity sensations could be linked to neurological conditions that affect nerve function or electrical signaling in the body. - A neurologist can assess your neurological status and rule out any underlying nerve-related causes. 3. Allergist/Immunologist: - Certain immune system or allergic reactions can sometimes manifest as increased static electricity sensitivity. - An allergist or immunologist can evaluate your immune function and explore any potential environmental or physiological triggers. 4. General Practitioner: - Your primary care physician can be a good starting point to discuss the static shock symptoms, assess your overall health, and provide a referral to the appropriate specialist if necessary. Next Steps: 1. Schedule an appointment with your primary care doctor to discuss the persistent static shocks and have them conduct an initial evaluation. 2. Based on the doctor's assessment, you may be referred to a dermatologist, neurologist, or allergist/immunologist for further specialized evaluation and testing. 3. Provide a detailed history of the static shock occurrences, including any potential triggers or patterns you've observed. 4. Be prepared to undergo any necessary diagnostic tests or examinations to help identify the underlying cause. While persistent static shocks can be troublesome, it's important to have a medical professional investigate the potential causes and provide appropriate treatment or management strategies. With the right diagnosis and care, the issue can often be addressed effectively.
